Gerry King, Marriage Therapist Austin PhD

Therapy Austin, Life Coach, PhD

Gerry King has been a leader in mind-body psychology for nearly four decades. His credentials include a PhD from Stanford University and Certification as a Bioenergetic Therapist and Training Analyst with the International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis.
Marriage Therapist Austin –
In 1976, he founded the Bioenergetic training program in Austin and the Austin Society for Bioenergetic Analysis. He has been in private practice in Austin as a somatic psychotherapist treating adults in individual, group and couple sessions.

In supporting his clients to integrate mind, body and spirit
through his work, he has relied on Bioenergetic Analysis, trauma-oriented mind-body work, poetry, evolutionary spirituality, neuroscience, attachment research and contemporary psychoanalytic thinking.
The core of his work centers on supporting his clients to find their vitality
and authentic self, so they can live their true lives – not the life others want them to live. Active awareness and self-acceptance are keys.

Personally, Gerry is active in his spiritual community,
participating in programs for peace and teaching programs on a variety of subjects. Cooking and eating healthy gourmet food, music, poetry and nature are some of his sources of replenishment for the body and soul. Hiking, climbing and kayaking are favored hobbies; in celebration of his 70th year, he climbed the Grand Teton.

His passion is cycling as his favorite way to stay in shape.
He and his life partner, Doris Adams, ride their tandem bicycle in the hills around Austin regularly. He has been the State Senior Games Champion for most of the last 20 years and, in 2013, won the World Senior Games Championship for his age group.
